Sankalp

Stambhan

The traditional act of stilling, closest to Maa Baglamukhi’s own nature.

Stambhan — Maa Baglamukhi Temple, Nalkheda, Madhya Pradesh

What this sankalp means

Stambhan means stilling or holding — bringing something that is in motion against the devotee to a stop. It is the act most closely associated with Maa Baglamukhi, who is described in the tradition as the stambhini, and it is the sense in which the Mahamantra itself is recited.

How devotees bring it

Because stambhan is the Devi’s own nature, most Baglamukhi sevas carry something of it. Devotees bring it as a sankalp of their own when they want a difficulty that keeps advancing to be stilled.

How the seva is offered

  • Offered as Maa Baglamukhi Puja and Hawan with the Mahamantra.
  • Baglamukhi Jaap is often taken up along with it.
  • Pandit Ji explains what the observance involves and what it does not.

Sevas are offered as acts of devotion. Nothing here promises or predicts any outcome, and nothing here is medical, legal or financial advice.
